The Nigerian Association of Paediatric Dentistry ( NAPD) Joins the World to Mark the World Oral Health Day 2025
Theme: A happy mouth is a happy mind.
The phrase, “Happy mouth, happy mind, happy child,” reminds us that oral health is essential for a child’s overall happiness, well-being, and quality of life.
A healthy, happy mouth can have a significant impact on a child’s:
- Confidence and self-esteem: A healthy smile can boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem.
- Nutrition and overall health: Good oral health enables children to eat and digest food properly, supporting their overall health and development.
- Mental health and well-being: Research suggests that there may be a link between oral health and mental health, with poor oral health potentially contributing to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
- Academic performance and social interactions: A healthy mouth can help children focus in school, participate in social activities, and develop positive relationships with their peers.
